A Comment from the Editor
‘Having read various drafts and watched Tyler May evolve, it will be fantastic to see her first adventure finally available for the world to read. I may not be a teenage girl but it was immediately obvious to me, as the first chapter unfolded, that Ben Mears has created a series and a trio of characters that will enthral.
Take Nancy Drew, add a dollop of His Dark Materials, mix in some ghosts and sprinkle with a secret ingredient (to be revealed in the book) and you’re close to understanding what the Tyler May series promises. This first book rattles along at a compelling pace introducing characters and giving the reader a few genuine surprises and plenty of smiles.
The dialogue and description enhance the pace to ensure this is a novel easily devoured in a single sitting and the final pages will have you yelling in frustration, demanding another instalment NOW!
It’ll be worth the wait; I know what’s coming next…’

‘I thoroughly enjoyed ‘The Haunting of Tyler May’. I started the book knowing only the title, I had no idea what it was about or who it was aimed at, but while it is obviously aimed at a young adult audience, I found it totally captivating as an adult reader. I couldn’t put it down, to the point that I read it in about three sittings and finished it at 1:30am! Brilliantly paced plot, with enough twists to keep you guessing, awesome guest appearances, and a great ending that leaves you desperate for the next instalment!’
Matt (Newport UK)

‘This fantasy detective adventure is set in modern times and has reality frighteningly close! There are plenty of surprises and the plot thickens so that at the end, one is impatient for the next book to be written. Excitement and a bit of terror combine to keep the reader on the edge of the seat.’

‘WOW, I Loved this book, just imagine how I felt when B J Mears came into Coffee 1 in Clevedon. I immediately jumped on him, and we had his first official book signing today, which went really really well. This is an amazing book, and is just as good for adults as teenagers.’
Chris (Clevedon, UK)
‘Hooked on it right up until the last page! A really gripping story even for me as an adult reader. The plot had me spell bound, there was a good blend of humour and “menace” and I was impressed by the originality of the over arching idea. I cannot wait to read the next in the series. I would not recommend reading just before bed… too scary!!!’
Joy (teacher, Nailsea UK)
‘I did think it scary but not enough to quit and the scary bit really was only due to the fact it kept you on the edge of your seat so the anticipation of what was going to happen next made you feel scared. It was exciting and adventurous. I loved it.’
Juliette (Chester, UK)
‘I have just finished book three of the Tyler May series. They are the best books I have ever read. Are you writing a book four and if so when will it be out?’
